Annette is Director of her own consultancy company specialising in policy, organisational and community development. She has a national profile in addiction in the UK and has held a number of national posts involved in the development of drug and alcohol policy, guidelines and quality frameworks. She is currently a Home Officer advisor on the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) and co-chairs the Recovery Committee. She is also a trustee of AdFam and Build on Belief (BoB) and a Director of Choices Consortium.
Previously, Annette was Strategic Director of Addiction and Offender Care for Central North West London NHS Foundation Trust, Executive Director of Quality at the National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse (NTA), Director of Policy for DrugScope: and a research fellow at the University of London, evaluating substance misuse and public health services. She has a background in psychology and in her early career, worked as a practitioner in community detoxification project for heroin misusers and in residential rehabilitation units.
